The NEW YORKER Battle of the Year turns 25. Braunschweig again welcomed the world’s best b-boys for a captivating performance with impressive choreography before an enthusiastic crowd of thousands at the Volkswagen Halle on Saturday, 18 October 2014. It was the event’s 25th anniversary, with the first BOTY (previously known as the International Breakdance Cup) having been held in July 1990. A diverse programme of supporting events with superb acts, battles and workshops was offered for this anniversary in Braunschweig from 16 to 18 October 2014.

The big BOTY final took place on Saturday evening at the Volkswagen Halle. Besides well-known crews such as The Ruggeds (Benelux), Body Carnival (Japan) and last year’s winners, Fusion MC (South Korea), some newcomers also got their turn this year. These include The Saxonz, who won the right to represent Germany in the final following their overall victory in Hanover in the German qualifying round in September. This is a childhood dream come true for the guys from Saxony: “We’re pleased to have won and delighted we put in so much time and effort. We’ve spent 9 months preparing for the show and battles.”
